John Montague to be Highlighted at Irish Arts Center PoetryFest
A tribute to our very own John Montague will be one of the highlights of the 4th annual Irish Arts Center (IAC) PoetryFest in New York from November 2nd to the 4th.
Established in 2009, IAC PoetryFest is a celebration of Irish poetry. This year’s festival will feature ten contemporary Irish and North American poets. After a public conversation with Irish poet Theo Dorgan, Montague will give a joint reading with Pultizer-Prize winner C.K. Williams.
Montague, now 83, was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He is hailed as one of the most acclaimed contemporary Irish poets today. He has received many awards, including the Irish-American Cultural Institute’s Award for Literature and the American Ireland Fund Literary Award for 1995. The Press is proud to be the publisher of his last ten volumes, including his most recent, Speech Lessons (2010).
